Imagine taking a trip through the flavors and knowledge of the Palenquera tradition, enjoying not only food combinations and the use of preparation techniques such as fried and sweets, but also taking a deep dive into our territory through the songs, the tongue and the imposing hairstyles that are a symbol of freedom. Here you discover the real Palenquera woman, who continue with their traditions, beliefs and flavors.
All our equipment required for each tour, dressed in typical clothing, welcomes visitors with music, song and dance typical of our community, at the POSA SUTO farm.
At the same time, our host, a native of Palenque, will welcome the group with a few words in the Palenque language, giving an account of what the experience will be like.
Visitors have at their disposal wet wipes with the fragrance of the herbs of the region (lemon or lemon balm), and a table of frozen scented waters.
Following the tradition of the women of Palenqueras, visitors will enjoy a portion of varied fresh fruits presented in the typical totuma, as a snack of what will be the visit to the first free town in America.
Visit to the house of the teacher Rafael Cassiani: Who sings and tells the story of the Tabalá Sexteto Musical Group, the traditional rhythms, musical instruments and the cantaoras from San Basilio de Palenque.
Visit to the Queen of Congo:
Visitors will be able to observe the libertarian history of San Basilio de Palenque through the braided hairstyles, which served as territorial maps for the escapes of the enslaved during the colonization era. Skill of our people in braided hairstyle that lasts to this day.

Lunch: Having won the award for the best cookbook in the world in 2014 in Beijing, China, for the Gourmand World Cookbook, with COCINA DE PALENQUE PARA EL MUNDO, the cuisine of the region goes back to a combination of flavors and techniques of their African ancestors, adapted to the ingredients of America.
Before lunch, our visitors will receive a practical theoretical explanation of one of the typical Palenquero dishes that they will taste: macerated banana entry (typically called head and cat) and / or the preparation of a typical sweet (cocadas or enyucado).
Visitors will continue to enjoy a typical lunch, a main dish: boneless Creole chicken in coconut juice or fish salad, avocado salad, accompanied by bean rice or “sùbio” rice, the latter depending on the harvest time.
Later they will taste one of our strengths as a Palenquera community that are the sweets prepared especially for the occasion, a full table of flavors where they will enjoy: milk cocadas, panela, blackberry, guava, passion fruit, alegrías, caballitos, and peanut ball.

Here the magic starts from the moment you put your feet in our territory. Traditional music and refreshments will welcome you at the famous POSA SUTO farm, followed by a visit to the legendary families of native drummers, musicians and singers of San Basilio de Palenque. You will visit the Tronkoná neighborhood, where part of the traditional Palenquera medicine will be socialized to connect with ancestrality and to understand our history we will take you to the monument in honor of the founding leader Cimarron Benkos Biohó, we will visit the house of Antonio Cervantes Reyes “Kid Pambelé” , our world lightweight welterweight boxing champion.
The immersion becomes more and more profound when visiting the stream to understand and witness the cultural socialization and recreation practices of the community, especially for Palenqueras women. Then we will take a tour of the La Bonguita neighborhood, a place to appreciate with rapture and feel the beauty of the mountainous ring that contributed to the libertarian struggle of Palenque.
You will share joyful moments with the Queen of the Congo to appreciate the most beautiful story of the braided hairstyles of Palenqueras women. These braids fulfilled a heroic function by becoming territorial maps for the libertarian routes of an entire town that was enslaved during the colonial era.
“The hour of knowledge and flavors.” Here we will celebrate lunch at the POSA SUTO farm with a delicious dish taken from the pages of the book “Kumina ri palenge pa to paraje”, our Cookbook that won the award for the best cookbook in the world in Beiging –China 2014– Gourmand World Cookbook. You will be surprised by the exquisite flavor when combining flavors and techniques of our African ancestors, adapted to the ingredients of America through a Cooking Workshop in the company of our Palenqueras matrons where you will discover the most precious secrets of our ancestral traditions.
At the end of the activities, you will enjoy a pleasant rest after having traveled and savored music, songs, food, culture and memory of the Palenquero people.
